Willow Springs Rural Fire Board collecting dues

A newly reorganized Willow Springs Rural Fire Board wishes to remind the public that an annual membership fee could save homeowners hundreds of dollars.

“If you live in the Willow Springs school district, but live outside of the city limits, not one penny of your tax dollars supports rural fire protection services,” a release from the Fire Board reads.

Consequently, if the Willow Springs Fire Department responds to a call for any reason - a structure fire, a grass fire, or even a motor vehicle accident and the Willow Springs Fire Department responds, you will be billed for their emergency services. That is, you will be billed if you have not paid your annual dues.

Membership in the Willow Springs Rural Fire Protection Association costs fifty dollars per year, and members are not billed for emergency services.

“The volunteer fire protection association may charge one hundred dollars for responding to the call.  They may also charge five hundred dollars per hour or a proportional sum for each quarter hour spent in providing emergency services. Additionally, they may charge an amount equal to one years’ membership fee,” the same release said.

Residents who live in the school district but outside the city limits cab join the Willow Springs Rural Fire Protection Association by paying the membership fee at City Hall, or by mailing a check for membership to: Willow Springs Rural Fire Protection Association, PO Box 342, Willow Springs, MO 65793.
