A West Plains woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash on July 2 around noon, according to a press release from the West Plains Police Department.
Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 63 near Quarry Road in West Plains. The two vehicles in the crash were a passenger car driven by Stephanie Mellot, age 46, of West Plains and a commercial vehicle with an unnamed driver. Mellot was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.
The roadway near the incident was closed for roughly two hours before being reopened.
Mellot was a long-time driver for Cartender taxi service in West Plains. Cartender announced on their Facebook page that the service will be closed on Tuesday, July 9 for Mellot's funeral services. Any previously scheduled trips with Cartender for that day will still be honored.
