WP Man Charged for Sexual Assault of a Child

Alexandro P. Silva, 19, of West Plains, remains in custody with no bond following accusations that he sexually assaulted a nine-year-old girl. According to a probable cause statement filed by Officer John Murrell III of the West Plains Police Department, the girl’s father reported his daughter was being abused while at the home of her mother. The mother cooperated with police to identify a suspect, Silva. 
In a forensic interview at the Child Advocacy Center on March 16, the girl disclosed to investigators the abuse that prompted two felony charges of statutory sodomy. 
Police located Silva at El Charro #2 on Mitchell Road the same day, and took him into custody pending the filing of formal charges. 
The order for the grand jury warrant was filed on March 19 and served on Silva while he remain in Howell County Jail on March 22 
At his initial hearing on March 23, Silva pled not guilty and made an application for a public defender. In response to a Motion filed by the accused’s attorney, the case has since been transferred out of Judge Steven Privette’s court into the Missouri Supreme Court, where Silva’s initial hearing will take place on April 19.
