Mountain View-Birch Tree FFA Chapter has strong showing at the fair The Mountain View-Birch Tree FFA Chapter would like to say thank you to Simmons Bank of Mountain View for purchasing Jacob Fisher's Cross Barrow (a castrated male hog) named “Big Pig”. He enjoyed showing at the West Plains Heart of the Ozarks fair for the first time this year. Simmons Bank donated $1,200 towards Jacob’s show hog project. Jacob will be showing another hog at the Texas County Fair in July as well. Jacob place third in the Feeder Class #2 competition. He is a current member of the Mountain View- Birch Tree FFA Chapter and is a recent graduate of the Liberty High School. Jacob will be serving our country later this year in the United States Marine Corps. The MVBT FFA would like to thank Heritage Tractor of West Plains for purchasing Adalyn Holden’s goat for $1,000. Her nanny (female) goat was named “Regina George”. This was Adalyn's first year showing a goat. She will be a sophomore this coming school year and is already talking about what animals she would like to show at the fair next year. She received the Champion Goat Carcass 2022 Award, Third place in the Market Goat Class #2 Competition, 3rd in the Market Goat Showmanship Competition, was ranked Third Highest Individual Overall in the Market Goat Show, and she also placed First in the Class #1 Doe Show. Josie Hill is a member of the Mountain View-Birch Tree FFA Chapter. She will be attending SBU in Mountain View to earn her Associates Degree this coming school year. She is continuing to be active in the Liberty FFA chapter this summer. This year was Josie’s second year showing at the fair. She showed a barrow (a castrated male hog) named “Gravy”. They placed First in the Feeder Pig Class #1 Competition at the Heart of the Ozarks Fair in West Plains, MO. She plans to show a hog next summer as well. Sydney Radford is a member of the Mountain View-Birch Tree FFA Chapter. She will be a junior this coming school year. She is currently the FFA Chapter Vice President. This year was Sydney’s first year showing at the Heart of the Ozarks Fair in West Plains. She showed a gilt (a female hog that has not had piglets) named “Sweetie”. They placed second in the Feeder Pig Class #2 Competition on Monday. On Tuesday, she placed second in the Replacement Gilt Class #3 and fourth in the Replacement Gilt Showmanship Competition. She will be showing two more hogs this year at the Texas County Fair in Houston in July. Emily Jennings is a member of the Mountain View-Birch Tree FFA Chapter. She will be a senior this coming school year. She is currently the FFA Chapter Reporter. This year was Emily’s first year showing at the fair. She showed a gilt (a female hog that has not had piglets) named “Gabi”. They placed third in the Feeder Pig Class #1 Competition at the Heart of the Ozarks Fair in West Plains. Hirsch Feed and Farm Supply of West Plains purchased Madeline Hill's Duroc Barrow (a castrated male hog) named “Biscuit”. Hirsch purchased the hog for $1,400. Madeline is a current member of the Mountain View-Birch Tree FFA Chapter. She will be a freshman this coming school year. This was her first year showing a hog at the fair. She placed fourth in the Market Hog Class #5 Competition. She also won the FFA/4-H Market Reserve Average Daily Gain Contest Award.
