Delmar Doise Dooms, son of the late Trellie and Golda (Lambert) Dooms, was born January 26, 1937, in Drury, Missouri, and passed away September 2, 2020, at Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mountain Grove, Missouri. He was 83 years, 7 months, and 7 days of age.
Delmar attended Champion School through the eighth grade before moving to Burns, Oregon, where he worked on a farm for a few years. Later, he moved to Davenport, Iowa, where he met Sandra Hartley. They were married June 30, 1961. Six children were born to this union, Danny Darren, Donald, Douglas, Rebekah, and Angela.
Delmar lived in several places throughout his life, and lived his final 25 years in Dora, Missouri. He was a well-known auto body man, but his passion in life was fishing. He also enjoyed hunting and trapping. Delmar had many friends and was loved by many people.
Besides his parents, Delmar was preceded in death by one son, Darren Dooms, one granddaughter, Kecia Dooms, six siblings, Ruth Hicks, Ivel Dooms, Edward Dooms, Don Dooms, Pete Dooms, and Edgie Gisler.
He is survived by three sons, Danny Ashby and his wife, Rose, of Fruitland, Iowa, Donald Dooms and his wife, Rachel, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and Douglas Dooms of West Plains, Missouri, two daughters, Rebekah Hillman and her spouse, Jennifer, of Colona, Illinois, and Angela Willingham of Davenport, Iowa, one brother, Alvie Dooms of Ava, Missouri, two sisters, Modene McGowan and Charlene Medlock both of Mountain Grove, Missouri, seventeen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation for Delmar Dooms will be held Friday, September 4, 2020, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 5, 2020, at 11:00 AM, also at the funeral home, with Pastor Paul Murray officiating. Larry Dooms, Paul Dooms, Donnie Dooms, Shane Coats, Lance Coats, and Ashley Akers served as Pallbearers. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery, Drury, Missouri, under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mountain Grove. Memorial contributions may be made to New Hope Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
