Donald Harvey Adkins

Donald Harvey Adkins passed away on February 26, 2022, at the age of 76 while in Hospice Care in Tucson, Arizona. He was born to Harvey Simpson Adkins and Opal Mae (Beasley) Adkins on June 3, 1945, in Texas County, Missouri. He grew up in the Pine Creek area and attended Willow Springs Schools graduating in May 1963. Three daughters were born as the result of his first marriage that same year. He moved to Oregon with Beverly Elliott and her three children. He and Beverly were married in January 1971. Donald loved raising horses, watching old cowboy/western shows on television, and spending time with his family. Although he had moved to Red Rock, Arizona later in life due to health reasons and was a resident there at the time of his death, his heart remained in Oregon. He enjoyed living there so much that he requested to be cremated and his ashes scattered in his beloved Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Opal Adkins; three siblings Audrey Aldridge, Phyllis Adkins and Elmer Nichols; one grandson Paul Allen Blackburn; and several other beloved family members. He is survived by his wife Beverly Adkins; daughters Judy Leanne Walls and husband Roger of Mountain View, MO, Charlotte Collins and husband James of Cape Girardeau, MO, and Rhonda Lynne Myers and husband Jonathan of Pineville, LA; three stepchildren Kathy Strader and husband David, Eddie Elliott and wife Beth, and Steve Elliott; one sister, Georgia Lynch of Mountain Grove, MO; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and many other family members who will miss him dearly. A memorial service will be held at Pleasant Grove Community on March 12, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. Directions from Willow Springs: Go North on Hwy 137 for about 9 miles. The Pleasant Grove Community Church & Cemetery are on the right side of the highway, just before you get to the junction of Hwy AZ.
