Grant L. Cox

Grant Leon Cox, 82, died at home on February 10, 2023 under hospice care and surrounded by family.  He was born on October 13, 1940 to Glen and Thelma Cox in Willow Springs, Missouri.   
Grant worked in Springfield for 32 years at McBee Binders, later known as Viatech Publishing, as a silk screen operator, printing artwork on binders for many companies and many uses.
He loved Cardinals baseball, Kansas City Chiefs football, fishing and gardening and always had the first tomatoes each summer.  He also loved bluegrass music and had several favorite bluegrass groups.
He was a loving husband and father and known as Papa to his grandchildren.   He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Grant David and Greg Allen; three brothers, Kenneth, Ervin, Larry, and one sister, Wanda Chritton.    
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Ann, daughter Christy, granddaughter Sydney, grandson, Alex Cox-Barnett and daughters-in-law, Erica Cox and Erica Coffin.  Also surviving Grant are his sisters Louise Simon, Janice Gregory, Glenda Verlander and husband, Tom, and one brother, Clifford Cox and wife, Louise, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Grant was a member of the First Baptist Church in Willow Springs, Missouri.  The family also wishes to say a special thank you to Cox Hospice for all nurses, social workers and pastoral care. 
Instead of flowers, please make donations to the Nease Cemetery, Willow Springs.  Dani Helm, friend and neighbor of Grant and Mary Ann, will officiate the graveside service on Wednesday, February 15 at Nease Cemetery.
