Julie M. Wirtz of West Plains passed away on March 14, 2024, at Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains, MO, with family at her side. She was born to Vernie & Glenda Romans on July 18, 1978.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Wirtz; mother, Glenda Romans; mother-in-law Barbara Galloway; brother-in-law Walter Wirtz of St. Louis and children Henry & Olivia; brother Jd Crider, partner Becky, and children Remington and Cierra; brother Steven Romans, wife Meshia and children Diona, Brittney and wife Kiara, and Emory; and three great nephews Vernie, Wryn, and Walker.
Julie was preceded in death by her father, Vernie Romans, niece Lexi Crider, great nephews Aiden & Brantley McDaniel, and father-in-law Gene Wirtz.
Julie dated her husband, Jerry, for five years before getting married on May 3, 1998. They’ve been together for almost 30 wonderful years and were going to be celebrating their 26th wedding anniversary in May of this year. She was a wonderful wife to Jerry. Although no children, she considered her nephew, nieces, and great-nephews to be her own.
Julie worked at NHC Healthcare full-time, in housekeeping and laundry, until her nephew Vernie Pettyjohn was born in 2020. Julie went to PRN status so she could help care for Vernie while his parents worked. She was in the auxiliary department for Howell Rural Fire Department. She truly had a servant’s heart and loved to help everyone.
There will be services held at First Free Will Baptist of West Plains, MO on April 13th, at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers & gifts, the family requests donations be made to Jerry to help with medical & final expenses. Donations can be mailed to the funeral home, payable to Jerry Wirtz, at:
