Larry Truman Shelley

December 8, 1948 – January 24, 2025

Larry Truman Shelley, 76, of West Plains, Missouri, passed away on January 24, 2025, after a courageous battle with illness. Born on December 8, 1948, at Christa Hogan Hospital in West Plains, Larry was the son of the late Paul and Anna Shelley.

Larry was a devoted husband of 56 years to his beloved wife, LaDonna, and a proud father of their five children. He owned and operated Shelley Metals Recycling for many years, where his hard work and dedication instilled a strong work ethic in his children. Larry enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. He was known for his kindness, generosity, and humility—always greeting others with a smile, a positive word, and treating everyone like family.

In 1994, Larry began studying the Bible and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. It was at this time that his love for people and his desire to share the Bible's message of hope became central to his life. Those who knew him could see the profound and positive impact this had on his world.

He is survived by his wife, LaDonna, and their children: Mike Shelley and wife Marva, Kelly Shelley and wife Karla, Teresa Guilliams and husband Aaron, Doug Shelley, and Christina Emerson and husband Trevor. Larry is also survived by his siblings: David Shelley and wife Susie, Joann Lester and husband Dennis, and sister-in-law Suzi Shelley. He leaves behind his grandchildren: Samantha Kintner, James Smallwood, Justin Smallwood, Kavan Collins, Kyle Shelley, Kiersten Shelley, Jesse Guilliams, Maxwell Guilliams, Trenton Emerson, and Colton Emerson, along with many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews—all of whom he dearly loved.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Truman Shelley and Anna Louise Shelley; his brother, Ronnie Shelley; his sister, Monna Ray Howell; and two grandchildren, Cecilia Parker and Keeley Collins.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the nurses, doctors, and staff at Ozark Healthcare for their compassionate care during his time there.
