Wilma Aleene (Rackley) Reed

Wilma Aleene (Rackley) Reed, 83, passed away peacefully January 11, 2022 at Willow Care Nursing Home in Willow Springs, Missouri where she had been a resident the past few years. Aleene was born and raised in Willow Springs on February 26, 1938 to the late Robert Clifton Rackley and Iris Green Rackley.  She was a proud graduate of Willow Springs High School, Class of 1956.
Aleene met her husband, Jim, of Mountain Grove, MO and they were married in 1960. Together, they lived and worked in Wichita, KS with Jim’s job at Coca-Cola before being transferred to Joplin, MO. Aleene worked as an Avon Lady during her children’s school years in Joplin and also as a bookkeeper when the family moved back to Cabool with Jim’s snack business. Later in life she was a nurse’s aide at Willow Health Care before retiring and enjoying life over the road with her husband as they traveled around the country in their big rig with their cats.
Aleene always loved a good joke, a great prank and looked on the bright side of life and those who knew her will miss her wonderful sense of humor and caring nature. She was also a compassionate friend to the stray cats or dogs that would come calling and stay because they got a great meal and a new home.
Aleene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 55 years, James Thomas Reed, son, Rick Reed, brothers, Robert and Johnnie Lee Rackley and sister Roberta Oaks.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie Bartine and husband David of Katy, Texas. Her sisters, Mary Ann Baker and husband Jesse and Sharlene Bunch of Willow Springs; grandchildren Pierce and Chloe Bartine and Brantley and Chaseten Reed.  She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews that she loved and adored as her own. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Graveside services were held Jan. 13 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Mtn. Grove, MO with Pastor Scott Williamson officiating. Interment was under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool, MO. Online condolences may be made at www.egcfuneralhome.com.
