25th Anniversary and more at the Mtn. View Libary

Do you remember what was happening around town at this time of year in 1999? Pack Memorial Library closed its doors on September 27 so they could begin the move into the new building at 125 South Oak Street, and on October 18 the new Mountain View Public Library opened for business. In celebration of our 25th anniversary, we will host an Open House on Friday, Oct. 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in our conference room. We will be looking back on Mountain View at the turn of the 21st century and celebrating businesses that have endured the past 25 years as well as highlighting our sponsoring businesses. We invite you to stop in for refreshments and a stroll down memory lane.

The Adult Crafting Class meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. and our Children’s Storytime is every Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. Storytime will host our annual Fall Party, complete with a trick-or-treat around the library on October 30.

Do you like sweet ghost stories with a happy ending? Children age 8 and under may enter our raffle for a spooktacular handmade quilt and a copy of the book "The Little Ghost Who was a Quilt" by reading (or listening to) the book and entering their name into the drawing which will be held October 30. A cauldron full of thanks to our quilting sorceress, Monica Sharp, for the quilt.

If you have a child in your life, age birth to Kindergarten, we invite you to participate in our 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program. There will be fun prizes for adults and kiddos along the way. We continue to celebrate Smokey Bear’s 80th birthday until November 28. Join our reading challenge and earn fun prizes from Smokey!

If you are a homeschool family looking for new curriculum or have old curriculum you don’t use anymore, visit our homeschool curriculum exchange area. Also, don’t forget our Friends of the Library book sale in the conference room on the first Saturday of each month from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and be sure to check out our silent auction items located at the DVD shelves.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
