To the Editor:

Those of us living in Southeast Missouri, who have empathy and concern for our neighbors as their rights are being stripped away, have been betrayed by Eric Schmitt, Jason Smith and Josh Hawley by their vote to pass the devastating and horrible trump bill.

 

I post this prayer by the late Martin Luther King Jr.:

 

"GOD, GRANT THAT THIS TRAGIC MIDNIGHT OF MAN'S INHUMANITY TO MAN WILL SOON PASS AND THE BRIGHT DAYBREAK OF FREEDOM AND BROTHERHOOD WILL COME INTO BEING."
