Moment in the Word

2 Thessalonians 2:10-12 - He (the ungodly leader) will use every kind of evil deception to fool those on their way to destruction, because they refuse to love and accept the truth that would save them. 11 - So God will cause them to be greatly deceived, and they will believe these lies. 12 - Then they will be condemned for enjoying evil rather than believing the truth.

 

Facing another general election, WE THE PEOPLE are unknowingly ALL looking for a solution "outside" of God when God is the ONLY solution for the abominations committed in this nation.

 

Republicans believe Trump is the answer. Democrats vouch for Biden, and Independents claim that Kennedy is the ultimate solution for America's inevitable tragic end. But, without repenting first, there are no good choices when facing God's wrath. Although Israel longed for the Promised Land, yet God would not let them enter before facing their evil deeds.

 

Later, God asked, "Why do you continue to invite punishment? Must you rebel forever? Your head is injured, and your heart is sick... 7 - Your country lies in ruins, and your towns are burned. Foreigners plunder your fields before your eyes and destroy everything they see..." (Isaiah 1:5-7)

 

Sadly, all the old conventions no longer worked. Without repentance, there was no solution, "When you come to worship me, who asked you to parade through my courts with all your ceremony? 13 - Stop bringing me your meaningless gifts; the incense of your offerings disgusts me!" (Isaiah 1:12-13)

 

There was only one way to right the chronic wrong, "Wash yourselves and be clean! Get your sins out of my sight. Give up your evil ways. 17 - Learn to do good. Seek justice..." (Isaiah 1:16-17)

 

Today, we ignore our individual complicity in America's demise and think, by picking a new leader, suddenly Utopia will be born! But this is what the prophet Amos meant when he rebuked the people who vainly "searched for the day of the Lord." Although Israel looked for an easy escape from the outcome of their sin, they first needed to confront their wickedness and repent, "Woe to you who long for the day of the Lord! Why do you long for the day of the Lord? That day will be darkness, not light. 19 - It will be as though a man fled from a lion only to meet a bear, as though he entered his house and rested his hand on the wall only to have a snake bite him. 20 - Will not the day of the Lord be darkness, not light — pitch-dark, without a ray of brightness?" (Amos 5:18-20)

 

If we think that Trump will avert ruin, then prepare for the lion's attack. If we say that Biden is the remedy for our calamity, then be ready to meet the ravenous bear. If we claim that Kennedy is the solution for America's ills, then watch as the viper strikes.

 

If we refuse to love and accept the single truth meant to save us, God will cause America to be greatly deceived by falsely hoping in the ability of a man who is as flawed as we are. We will trust in lies and be condemned for enjoying evil rather than believing the truth and repenting.
