Calls for Service
July 8
Deputy Jordon Collins spoke with two individuals reporting an assault. The reporting parties refused to pursue charges against the suspects. This case is closed at this time.
July 9
Corporal Logan Wake received a call from Paradise, Calif. Police Department reporting they
recovered a shotgun originally reported stolen through the Howell County Sheriff's Office in 2002. The victim of the initial report is deceased, but Cpl. Logan contacted the next of kin and advised them about the recovery. Next of kin will be contacted once the shotgun is received via mail from out of state.
Deputy Robert Malone responded to an assault that took place in Mountain View.
Deputy Talon Millard received a call of two missing persons on Private Road 1200. This case is to be considered opened and is being submitted to the Investigations Division for review.
July 10
Cpl. John Thomas responded to a call regarding fireworks being set off in a citizen's mailbox. No charges will be filed at this time unless further evidence is submitted.
Lt. Torey Thompson initiated an investigation regarding monies stolen from Midway Trucking Company. The investigation is ongoing.
July 11
Deputy Millard received a call of a domestic assault on County Road 4300 near West Plains. No arrests have been made and charges have been filed with the Howell County Prosecutor's Office for review.
July 12
While at the Sheriff’s Office, Deputy First Class Tessa Jens heard someone yelling loudly in the jail. She responded to the jail and found two jailers attempting to speak with an inmate refusing to go back into his cell. After approximately 20 minutes of speaking with the inmate and asking the individual to enter his cell, he refused, and officers forcibly placed the individual back into the cell. Charges
will be forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor for further review.
Corporal Jacob Hamby responded to E Brandsville Main Street regarding a dog bite.
Corporal Hamby received a report of a gas drive-off at Conley's Quick Stop #3 in West Plains.
Deputy Austin Ryan responded to the area of County Road 6590 in West Plains for a disturbance.
July 13
Deputy Avery Stolba received information in regards to an individual who wanted to file a report of his underage daughter receiving inappropriate messages.
Sergeant Seth Smith received a call to respond to a residence on State Route 17 for a report of property damage.
Deputy Austin Ryan responded to the area of County Road 2980 in reference to a burglary. While on
Scene, a physical altercation occurred. They placed the suspect in the burglary under arrest. The victim of the physical altercation did not wish to pursue charges. Charges will be forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor's Office on the suspect for burglary and stealing.
July 14
Deputy Hunter Ward responded to an alleged stealing on Clingan Ave in Willow Springs.
