Calls for Service
May 8
Officer Joel Lovelace responded to Holiday Lane for a report of an assault. The incident is open and under investigation. 
Officers responded to Lee Anna Drive for a physical domestic altercation in progress. Officer Brent Keepes took a subject into custody and placed them on a 24-hour hold. A report will be forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor's Office. 
Officers received calls on a vehicle driving in a careless and imprudent manner. Calls reported that the vehicle had been in a two-vehicle accident on Holiday Lane and Girdley then fled the scene. Officer Jacob Brixey conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on Hubert Redburn. He arrested the driver for driving while intoxicated and transported them to the West Plains Jail. 
May 9
Officer Lovelace responded to the Probation and Parole Office due to a subject at the office with an active warrant. He took the subject into custody and transported to the Howell County Jail without incident. 
Officer Ivie Powell took a report of two runaway juveniles. The matter remains under investigation.
Douglas County Sheriff Department requested the assistance of the Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force concerning a registered sex offender observed to be in possession of child sexual abuse material. The investigation is ongoing. 
May 10
The Southwest MO Cyber Crimes Task Force, HSI-Springfield (MO), and the Springfield Police Department, executed a residential search warrant concerning the sexual exploitation of children at a residence on North Engel Avenue in Springfield. Several items capable of storing digital media were seized as evidence. Charges are pending the completion of digital forensic examinations. 
Officer Powell responded to the area of State Route K in reference to a subject sitting in the roadway. He located the individual and took a report of a vehicle theft by an individual known to the owner. The matter will remain open.
Cpl. Micah McKemie responded to Johnson Street in reference to a subject breaking into the residence. During the investigation, he learned a domestic assault occurred the night before that resulted in injuries. He arrested a subject and placed them on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges.
Cpl. McKemie responded to Lanton Road in reference to a suicidal subject. He contacted the individual who made numerous such statements. They transported the individual to the hospital for mental evaluation.
May 11
Sgt. Joshua Wichowski responded to a residence on Lincoln Avenue for a report of a deceased person. He determined the death to be due to natural causes and no foul play suspected.
Officer Brixey responded to Myrtle to a report of property damage. The case is considered inactive, pending further information becomes available. 
May 12
Sgt. Wichowski conducted a traffic stop for a traffic violation. Upon further investigation he found the vehicle occupied by three juveniles who had run away from home and taken a vehicle without permission. All three juvenile's parents and guardians were contacted, and they were returned to the care and custody of their parents.
May 13
Officers responded to a business on West Broadway for a report of counterfeit currency. An employee stated that on May 12 someone purchased some items from their business using a counterfeit twenty dollar bill.
Officer Barrett responded to a business located on West Second Street for a report of a bicycle found behind the business by the dumpster. 
Cpl. McKemie completed a stealing report that occurred on Broadway Street. The case is under investigation. 
Cpl. Wesley Stuart responded to Debra Drive for a report of an intentional drug overdose. They transported the individual to Ozarks Healthcare for treatment.
