July 24
Officer Martin responded to Porter Wagoner for an alarm call. The individual who responded to turn off the alarm reported a missing cell phone from the premises.
Officer Heuchelin responded to West Thornburgh for an intoxicated individual threatening a family member with a firearm. A probable cause statement will be sent to the West Plains Municipal Prosecutor's Office for formal charges.
Officer Ivie Powell responded to a report of suspicious items located inside a building. Investigation revealed a box containing possible handmade improvised explosive devices. He contacted the Missouri Highway Patrol Bomb Squad for the items. The building has no known owner. This matter will be placed in the inactive status at this time.
Officer Barrett responded to Garfield Avenue for a report of a theft of items from a storage unit. This case is under investigation.
Officer Jacob Brixey received a report of stealing from Rent-a-Center. Charges will be forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor's Office.
Officers responded to a report of a physical domestic assault near the roadway of Webster Avenue. No injuries were reported and a probable cause statement for fourth degree domestic assault will be forwarded to the West Plains Municipal Prosecutor's Office.
July 25
Officer Martin responded to West First Street for an investigation follow-up involving a stolen smartphone. He made contact with the suspect and recovered the phone. Charges are pending.
Officer Powell responded to Missouri Avenue in reference to an overdose. The victim admitted to attempting suicide by taking several different types of medication. EMS transported the individual to Ozark Health Care for treatment and placed on a 96-hour hold for a mental evaluation.
Cpl. McKemie received a report from Walnut Street in reference to a property damage incident. Investigation discovered a broken window on a vehicle. Due to lack of evidence, the case is closed.
Officer Power took a report of a hit-and-run accident that took place on Preacher Roe Blvd.
Officers responded to Lanton Road to a report of an overdose. EMS transported the individual to Ozarks Healthcare for treatment.
July 26
Cpl. Kinder responded to a business located on Bratton Avenue for the report of an unattended vehicle on the property. He located a small dog in the vehicle and transported it to the West Plains Animal Control Center for safe keeping.
Officer Brixey took a report of stealing at a business. The case is being forwarded to the West Plains Detective Division for further investigation.
Officer Deshazo received information that a juvenile tampered with their electronic monitoring device, causing damage. A report will be referred to the Howell County Juvenile Division for review.
The Juvenile Office notified Officer Brixey of a juvenile that tampered with their GPS monitoring device. A juvenile referral and juvenile probable cause statement will be forwarded to the court.
Officer Deshazo responded to the area of Saint Louis Street and Trish Knight Street for a report of a runaway juvenile with a butter knife. He located the juvenile and transported them back to the juvenile's residence and released them to the parents. A report is being forwarded to the Howell County Juvenile Office for review.
Officer Deshazo responded to a business located on West Broadway for a report of an assault. Investigation learned a person had been injured, but no assault had taken place.
July 27
Howell County Sheriff's Office requested the deployment of the Crisis Negotiations Team to State Route K, Pottersville. After hours of negotiations, the residents exited the residence without incident and were taken into custody by Howell County deputies.
Cpl. McKemie took a stealing report that occurred through social media. This case is under investigation.
Officer Lovelace received a written statement form from the Mountain Grove Police Department containing information regarding a possible sexual assault. The incident is open and under investigation.
Cpl. Kinder received a call on Luna Drive for the report of a scam. The victims reported they sent a large sum of cash to an unknown suspect. This matter is under investigation.
Officer Deshazo responded to a two-vehicle motor vehicle accident on North U.S. Highway 63. The crash investigation learned both drivers driving recklessly causing the accident. Both drivers received summons to court.
West Plains Police Department executed a narcotics search warrant located on Thayer Street. During the course of the search warrant officers discovered controlled substances and drug paraphernalia. The arrested four subjects and placed them on a twenty-four-hour hold pending formal charges.
July 28
Officer Whitley Clark responded to Nevada Street for a report of possible child abuse. This case is considered open for further investigation.
Officers responded to the area of Olden Street and Lincoln Avenue in reference to an assault. Due to the circumstances surrounding the incident, they placed an individual lawful arrest and placed them on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges.
Officer Deshazo responded to Meadow Drive for a report of a deceased individual.
Officer Siegrist responded to Manze in reference to an adult protection order violation. This case will be referred to the Howell County Prosecutor’s Office.
July 29
Officer Deshazo responded to East Maple Street for a report of a runaway juvenile. He located the juvenile. Child Protective Services will handle the case.
Officer Heuchelin responded to East State Route K for an individual not breathing. EMS transported the individual to Ozarks Health Care for treatment.
