October 23
Officer Martin responded to Doe Run for a report of a suspicious male walking through yards. They arrested a subject on outstanding warrants and transported them to the Howell County Jail.
Officer Barrett took a report of a runaway juvenile They located the juvenile and transported them to the juvenile office.
Sgt. Colter Reid investigated a report of a hit and run automobile accident on Porter Wagoner Boulevard. The case remains active and open.
Officers responded to E. Maple St. for an unresponsive male. This incident is still under investigation at this time.
Officer Heuchelin took a report of a runaway juvenile.
Officers took a report of peace disturbance on Sixth Street.
Officer Daiman Meyer responded to Minnesota Avenue for a report of an ongoing domestic violence incident. Investigation of the incident learned a subject had damaged the property of another and was issued a citation for the offense. This case will be referred to the Howell County Prosecutor's Office for review.
October 24
The Southwest MO Cyber Crimes Task Force received a Cyber Tip Report from the National Center of Missing & Exploited Children, indicating that social media application KIK had observed files depicting child sexual abuse material (CSAM) being distributed on their platform. The suspect is believed to be in the West Plains, Howell County, Missouri area. The investigation is ongoing.
Officer Ivie Powell responded to Washington Avenue in reference to a burglary report. The victim advised a subject known to him entered his residence and stole several games before selling them for money. A probable cause statement will be completed and forwarded to the Howell Country Prosecutor.
Officer Robert Shell took a report of stealing. Charges will be forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor's Office.
Officer Shell responded to Hoglen for a report of a burglary.
Officers investigated an assault involving juveniles on Worel Street. The case remains open at this time.
Sgt. Reid investigated an assault that occurred on Webster Avenue. A probable cause statement will be forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor's Office.
October 25
Officer Meyer responded to the area of Worcester Street for a report of tampering. During investigation, he learned multiple vehicles were tampered with. All parties declined to pursue legal action.
Officers discovered two vehicles on Preacher Roe Blvd appeared to have been tampered with. Further investigation found that items of value had been stolen from one of the vehicles. This case remains open and under investigation.
Officer Meyer conducted a foot patrol of the area of Worcester Street due reports of vehicle break-ins. During the patrol of the area, he located a vehicle which appeared to have been tampered with. This case is open and active pending camera footage of the incident.
While conducting foot patrol, officers located a vehicle in the area of Worcester Street which had been tampered with. Further investigation determined a purse and wallet stolen from a vehicle. This incident and this case remains open and under further investigation.
Officer Powell responded to S. Arkansas in reference to property damage to a vehicle. He spoke with the victim who advised the driver’s side window and the windshield were broken by a rock from an unknown person. This matter remains under investigation.
Officer Powell responded to Leyda in reference to attempted theft of a vehicle. He spoke with the victims who advised someone attempted to steal their vehicle sometime during the night and stole a wireless head set from the vehicle. This matter remains under investigation.
Officer Connor Burnes took a report of a juvenile in possession of a vape product. Charges have been forwarded to the Juvenile Office for review.
Officer Chris Siegrist responded to Walnut in reference to a verbal altercation over a property dispute. A probable cause statement will be forwarded to the West Plains Municipal Prosecutor's Office.
Officer Siegrist took a report on Lanton in reference to a missing person. The individual will be entered as a missing person.
October 26
Officer Barrett responded to a business located on Saint Louis Street for a report of trespassing. He contacted the store manager who stated a subject previously trespassed from the business returned and stole items. This report will be forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
Officer Brent Keepes received a report of a domestic in progress on Joe Jones. No charges were sought the couple separated.
Officer Jacob Miller took a report of a vehicle accident. The case is active at this time.
October 27
Officer Burnes responded to a child abuse and neglect investigation on Maple. Officers met the juvenile and the Department of Social Services at a different location. The investigation further found a lack of food in the home and the child remained outside in the rain for several hours. The Department of Social Services will supply services to the home. This case will be closed with no charges at this time.
Officer Powell responded to Preacher Roe in reference to theft of a lawnmower. He spoke with the victim who advised an unknown subject had entered the property and stole their lawnmower. This matter remains under investigation.
Officers responded to a medical emergency on Olden. The reporting party stated the juvenile took several pills. EMS transported the juvenile for treatment. This case is still under investigation.
Officer Whitley Clark took a report on Jackson Street in regards to a juvenile in possession of a nicotine vape. A juvenile referral and probable cause statement will be forwarded to the Howell County Juvenile Office.
Officer Keepes responded to Texas Street for a physical domestic between grandparents and grandchild. He placed one party into custody and placed them on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges. Formal charges are pending against the other.
Officer Siegrist took a report of harassment.
Cpl. Stuart responded to Sesson Street for an intoxicated individual causing a disturbance. The subject became aggressive with officers and resisted arrest assaulting two officers while doing so. Officers placed the subject on a 24-hour hold and a report will be forwarded to the Howell County Prosecuting Attorney's Office requesting formal charges.
Officer Miller received a report of trespassing. The case will be forwarded to the prosecuting attorney.
Officer Meyer conducted a business check on Utah Avenue and located an open door. He contacted the business owner to relay the information.
October 28
Officer Shell took a report of property damage near Quail Run.
Cpl. Manning responded to McFarland Drive in reference to a stolen vehicle. Officers investigated the scene and discovered where the stolen vehicle could be located. They detained three juveniles for questioning who were later arrested for theft.
Officer Deshazo responded to McFarland Drive for a report of tampering. The victim reported the vehicle tampered with overnight and several items inside the vehicle stolen. Officers later identified a juvenile suspect. The case will be forwarded to the Howell County Juvenile Division for review.
Officer Shell received a report of stealing. Investigation discovered a suspect, and he issued a summons to court.
Officers reviewed camera footage evidence and identified a subject taking an item from a place of business without purchasing it on Preacher Roe Blvd. There are pending charges of burglary against the suspect.
Officers responded to Lanton Road for a report of an assault. The victim reported no injuries but wanted to pursue charges. They issued the suspect a citation.
The West Plains Police Department Strategic Response Team assisted The Missouri State Highway Patrol South Central Drug Task Force with a narcotics-related search warrant on Walnut Street. Officers took a subject taken into custody.
