October 7
The Southwest MO Cyber Crimes Task Force received a Cyber Tip Report from that National Center of Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), indicating that social media application Snap Chat, had observed files depicting child sexual abuse material (CSAM) being transmitted across their servers. The suspect is believed to residing in the Wright County area. The investigation is on-going.
Cpl. Thomas Manning received a call to a residential alarm. He found an unsecured door and cleared the residence and secured it.
Officer Robert Shell arrested one individual on an outstanding warrant.
October 8
Officer Jacob Beadell assisted the municipal fire department with a brush fire on South Thayer Avenue and later informed the owner of the property about the fire.
Officer Gill responded to Jackson Street for a report of a disturbance. He spoke to both parties involved.
Officer Austin Deshazo responded to Yeager Street for a report of a possible deceased individual. This case shall be considered closed due to cause of death being a suspected medical issue.
Officer Kerley responded to an auto theft on Bill Virdon. Investigation found a vehicle had not been returned at the intended time. This case will be referred to the Howell County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for review.
Officer Shell took a report of a stolen firearm.
Officer Shell responded to Grace Ave for an out-of-control juvenile. A male subject was contacted, and a report was taken, and a juvenile referral will be completed.
Officer Kerley responded to Lanton Road in regards to a burglary. Investigation found industrial machines stolen and multiple other items. This case will be forwarded to the West Plains Detective Division for assistance in identifying a possible suspect.
October 9
Officer Meyer arrested one individual on an outstanding warrant.
Officer Deshazo arrested one individual on an outstanding warrant.
Cpl. Manning conducted an investigation into a stolen firearm. The firearm could not be located, and he forwarded the case to the Detectives’ Division for further investigation.
October 10
Officer Meyer received a report of stealing. This case will be referred to the Detectives’ Division for review and further investigation.
Officer Siegrist took a report of stealing from a business on Bruce Smith Parkway.
October 11
Officer Dobbs responded to Division Drive for a report of property damage. A juvenile referral and probable cause statement will be forwarded to the Howell County Juvenile Office.
Officer Ivie Powell responded to Allen Street in reference to a burglary. Officers completed a search of the interior and exterior of the building and did not locate anyone. This matter remains under investigation.
Sgt. Colter Reid responded to Hynes Street in reference to a report of a domestic assault. Investigation determined the subject assaulted his father. Officers arrested the suspect, and formal charges will be forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor's Office.
Officer Siegrist responded to Casey’s General Store on W. Broadway for a report of stealing. A probable cause statement will be completed and forwarded to the West Plains Municipal Prosecutor’s Office.
Officer Meyer arrested one individual on an outstanding warrant.
October 12
Officer Barrett received a report of stealing that occurred on Hynes Street. He spoke with an individual reporting his son had stolen an item valued at $300 from his residence and pawned it. This report will be forwarded to the West Plains City Prosecuting Attorney for review.
Officer Barrett spoke with individuals on Myrtle Street regarding a report of an assault. He found the claim that one person displayed a firearm to another was false.
Officer Shell responded to Preacher Roe Blvd. for a report of trespassing. Charges will be forwarded to the West Plains Municipal Courthouse for review.
Officer Siegrist spoke to an individual at Ozarks Healthcare regarding an assault. He will forward the report to the Howell County Sheriff’s Office.
Officer Barrett took a report of a stolen handgun.
