All-around tough week for Zizzer ball

Zizzer basketball, both boys and girls, had a tough week going 0-4 against State-ranked teams.

After an idle week with no games, the Lady Zizzers fell, 44-58, in a rematch on February 3 against a talented Logan-Rogersville team who is ranked #6 in Class 4.

The Lady Zizzers also lost, 55-67, to the Doniphan Donettes in front of a huge hometown crowd for the Pink Out game last Thursday night. The Doniphan girls, who are enjoying a #5 ranking in Class 4, shot a remarkable 20 out of 23 free throws on the night.

“We knew going in we needed to keep them off the free throw line and we didn’t do it,” said Coach Christy Otter. “We saw two good teams this week and both are State-ranked, but they aren’t that good. We could’ve beat them both. In fact, we already beat Logan-Rogersville once this season.”

The Lady Zizzers are 11-8 on the season and will play three games this week, one at home and two on the road.

The Zizzer boys dropped a pair of games this week to both State-ranked Logan-Rogersville (#2 in Class 4) on Tuesday and State-ranked Rolla (#2 in Class 5) on Friday.

West Plains struggled to get their offense going against a dynamic Logan-Rogersville team and lost 25-60 last Tuesday.

On Friday the Zizzer boys found a little more offense but could not contain Rolla’s shooting and lost 45-88.

The Zizzer boys drop to a record of 10-11 on the season and have two Ozark Mountain Conference games this week against Bolivar and Branson.
