Bears Win Big at Home, Lose Away this Week.

With a final score of 72 over 39 over the Plato Eagles, the Varsity Bears notched another game in the win column on January 12, bringing their record to 9 and 4. Starters Owen Duddridge, Gannon McGinnis, Avery Stolba, Justin Chaney, and Scottie Osborn showcased superior ball handling over their guests, putting up points when the Eagles lost possession or racking up points with free throws thanks to fouls.
Plato players hit the hardwood aggressively from the buzzer. Officials called personal fouls on the Eagles twice in the first two minutes of the game. Plato’s Wyatte Cotrel was benched in the first 15 seconds of the second quarter when he committed his fourth personal foul. He reappeared late in the game, but by then the Bears’ lead was too much for Plato to overcome.
By the fourth quarter, Willow’s lead over the visiting team was so well established at 62 to 31 that every player on the Bears’ bench was able to clock significant Varsity minutes.
At the game in Thayer, the Bears could not overcome the Bobcats’ early lead of 21 to 3 at the end of the first quarter. The final score was 59 to 44. At the end of the week, the Bears’ season record stood at 9 and 5.
