Lady Bears Tennis falls in semifinals of team district competition

On October 4, Lady Bear tennis competed at the Individual district tournament at Rogersville.  The #1 doubles team of McKylie Cox and Madi Perkins finished as the district runner-up and will advance to play at state sectionals. They beat a team from Greenwood in the opening round 6-2, 6-1. In the semifinals, they played a team from Bolivar and came back from being down a set to win in a third-set tiebreaker. 4-6, 6-3, 10-3 (tiebreaker). They faced another team from Bolivar in the district championship. They took the first set to a tiebreaker, but lost the tiebreaker and then lost the second set as well. 6-7 (4-7 tiebreaker), 3-6. 
The other doubles team of Shaysten Mayberry and Brynna Barnes won an opening match against Greenwood 7-5, 6-3 and then lost to Bolivar 3-6, 1-6.
In singles, Claire Clarkston lost in the opening round to Bolivar 2-6, 2-6. Breighlee Zimmerman won her opening round match against Forsyth 6-4, 6-2, and then lost to Rogersville 4-6, 1-6.  
On October 5, the Lady Bears traveled to Rogersville for the semifinals of the team district tournament. A three-hour match came down to the last match on the court. Both teams had won four matches. Willow Springs fell short in that last match losing to Rogersville 5-4.  The four winning matches were: McKylie Cox & Melaina Wilson at two doubles, Shaysten Mayberry & Brynna Barnes at three doubles, Madi Perkins at two singles and Shaysten Mayberry at four singles. The team season ended with a 10-3 record. 
On October 8, the doubles team of McKylie Cox and Madi Perkins traveled to Joplin for state sectionals. They played a team from Nevada. McKylie and Madi won in straight sets 6-1, 6-0.  They advance on to the final state doubles tournament of the year Friday, October 15 in Springfield.
