Lady Eagles turn their attention towards districts

he Liberty Lady Eagles are sitting at a season record of 20-10-1 and are turning their focus to the fast approaching districts on Saturday, October 23 in Houston, MO.
"We are headed into districts on a rollercoaster," commented Head Coach Shari Tune. "We have very few practices left to get us steady on an uphill climb. I see glimpses of improvement in each set of every match. Our biggest obstacle is going to be playing consistently, well enough to beat good teams. That comes with confidence and a positive mentality in yourself and your teammates. It's definitely an attainable goal. The girls just have to find that inner fight and do anything and everything it takes in that moment."
On Tuesday, October 12 the Lady Eagles traveled to Thayer where both the JV and Varsity came home with wins. The JV won 25-6 and 25-16 with Sophomore Maci Tharp and Freshman Bryleigh Wallace having 4 kills for the evening. The team had a combined 20 aces for the game. In Varsity action, the team got their 20th win for the season in three sets 25-15, 25-8, 25-13. Senior Lexi Shumpert had 8 kills and Junior Kenzie Daniels had a career high of 8 aces.
Thursday, October 14 was Senior Night at the Eagle's Nest. "This group of girls have been the hardest working, most respectful, academic striving, heart of gold athletes I have ever saw in one group," stated Coach Tune on her five seniors. "This group is special, they are really loved. They have been the best teammates, players and students. Liberty Volleyball cannot wait to see where life takes them."
