The Mountain View-Birch Tree Liberty High School Cheerleading Squad has been preparing to compete in their second GameDay State Competition. The squad will travel to Drury University in Springfield on Feb. 23 where they will perform a band dance, timeout cheer, and fight song dance. The entire performance can be no longer than three minutes, including transition time between the three performances. Each individual performance cannot be longer than one minute. The team is judged on how well they can lead a crowd, their synchronization, skill, and creativity. The team with the highest combined score for the three events will with the GameDay State Championship title.
"This is Liberty High School's second year competing at this competition, so we are all still learning, but the team has worked really hard this season," says coach Brittany Dennison.
Liberty High School has a football cheer squad, a basketball cheer squad, and a competition cheer squad. Girls may participate in just one, two, or all three squads. They are running a youth cheer camp for basketball, allowing elementary aged girls to cheer and perform a dance with them at a basketball game.
