Liberty dominates Salem 48-8

Liberty used big plays all night long to dismantle the visiting Salem Tigers on a crisp autumn evening in Mountain View.
It took only 1:41 of game time for the Eagles to draw first blood. Drew Ripko cruised 17 yards for the score on a misdirection run. Carter Pruett connected with Tanner Ripko for the conversion pass to make it 8-0.
Liberty kept the momentum up as Drew Ripko recovered the onside kick. Five plays later, Lucas Frazier made a fantastic one-handed touchdown catch from Pruett. Liberty led 14-0 after the failed conversion.
Drew Ripko intercepted the Salem quarterback on the Tiger's next drive. Pruett then found Noah Jester for a 17-yard touchdown strike with 11:19 left in the second quarter. 22-0 Eagles.
Salem took the ball deep into Eagle territory before Liberty's Drew Ripko picked up his second interception of the game. Jester notched another touchdown reception with just 23 seconds to go in the first half. The two-point conversion made it 30-0 at halftime.
Salem's lone score of the night came on their opening possession of the second half. Bradlee Gover caught a 29 yard pass from Garrett Connell.
Jester then added his third touchdown reception of the game moments later to regain momentum for the Eagles.
Drew Ripko and Chris Sharr each notched scores on the ground for the Eagles to close out the 48-8 victory.
The Eagles improved their record to 4-4. With only one game left until districts, the Eagles may be playing their best football of the season right now. They have won back-to-back games and three of their last four.
Liberty will close out the regular season this Friday at home against the Houston Tigers. It marks Liberty's last chance to improve their seeding before the district tournament.
