The Parkview Vikings raided the West Plains boys’ basketball team last Friday, January 25 and won by nearly 40 points. In spite of a full house of raucous Zizzer fans there for the Midwinter crowning at halftime, the Zizzers were simply outmatched by the Vikings.
The Zizzers kept it close at the beginning -- only trailing 16-22 at the end of one quarter. But a dunk by Parkview’s Eli Govan in the opening two minutes of the game forecasted a long night ahead for the Zizzer defense.
In spite of the aggressive, pesky defense of Parkview forcing Zizzer turnovers, West Plains was still holding on, down just by 13 at halftime, 29-42.
In the third quarter, while the Zizzers sputtered on offense, the Vikings plundered the basket and scored from everywhere. Zizzers trailed 40-65 at the end of three.
Parkview played their bench for the majority of the fourth quarter and ended the game with three players in double digits for scoring. Dassiah Green led the way with 32 points, Christian Cordova put up 11 points, Carlitos Sanchez had 10 points.
Clayton Robbins led the way for the Zizzers with 16 points; Jared Kraft had 11, Josiah Long put in 7 points; Jacob Moore had 6 points; Ethan Tuma contributed 4 points; Aden Judd had 3 points; and Hudson Patillo threw in 1 point on a free throw.
The Zizzers had been perfect and on a 4-game winning streak in 2025. With the loss to Parkview, West Plains drops to 8-8 on the season.
The Zizzers play next in the Family Pharmacy Panther Classic in Mountain Grove on January 28 against Marshfield.
