Willow Springs students honor veterans 2nd Lieutenant Rodger Adkinson of the United States Army was the keynote speaker at the Veterans Day assembly in Munford Gymnasium on Nov. 11. A veteran of the Vietnam War, Adkinson addressed the school, "[Veterans] just ask to be given the due that was promised when we took our oath...to be honored by our country. After Vietnam, there were no parades. You don't see very many parades today, but you do see a lot of wounded soldiers...Walk up to a veteran and thank him, and he will thank you for honoring him." Local veterans were invited to attend in seats of honor in the center of the celebrations. The program featured several musical selections performed by the students to honor veterans. Here, the high school band plays the National Anthem.
