30th Annual Pioneer Days, September 25, 2021 Hundreds gathered in Mountain View on Saturday for the 30th Annual Pioneer Days Festival. Tori Herndon drenches elementary school principal Angie Jester. Thanks to the volunteers who were such great sports, Howell County News raised $275 to benefit the Youth Center. Citizens lined up to drench Mayor Donnie Pruett. He was the most popular volunteer of the day. Drench ‘em for a Good Cause was sponsored by Howell County News to raise money for Mountain View Family Youth Center. Emilio Villafuerte demonstrated rug making for the crowds to see. Inspired by nature and texture, Ellen Hones Martin crafted many pieces on her pottery wheel during the event, including this pumpkin in the making. Adele Voss with the Meadow Brook Mercantile sold various handcrafted wood items during the celebration. Winner of the infant-to-three-years-of-age costume contest, Elaina Gebert. Mr. Heselton has been growing his facial hair since 1979. The Mountain View Line Dancers got their groove on during the Pioneer Days Festival. Kylin Gaddy held tight to the reins during the horse-riding event on Saturday. Seen here with father, Michael Gaddy. Beginning at Wayside Park in Mountain View, the parade made its way to an end downtown. Alicia and Brett Maloney with horses Rida and Cheyanne from Christmas Town in Mountain Grove took home first place. Winner of third place, this 1939 Chevrolet and first fire engine Mountain View ever owned according to driver, Nick Heavrin.
