Backyard Laying Hen Workshop set for Feb. 24

Participants will learn basic management practices to ensure a healthy backyard flock in addition to biosecurity, licensing and labeling requirements, processing, washing and grading eggs, said Heather Conrow, event coordinator and MU Extension field specialist in livestock. Hands-on opportunities will include equipment demonstrations and processing, candling and grading eggs.

4-H and FFA youths are encouraged to attend. 4-H students will receive three poultry project hours for attending.

Cost is $30 (plus $10 per additional immediate family member). Preregistration is required and enrollment is limited to 30 people. The workshop will be canceled if fewer than seven people enroll by Feb. 22.
