Auditions set Sept. 17-19 for upcoming Star production

What do a ballerina, a gorilla, and pirates have in common?

Not much, and the history of the Star Theater has never been so jumbled. The Writer is the star of “Clara’s Star” as a menagerie of characters embark on a journey through Christmas Town to find her.

Will they find her? Will she re-write their stories? Or do they trust her to write their stories for their own good?

These answers and a star-studded adventure are to be found in “Clara’s Star,” a play written by Holly Wehmer, a senior at Willow Springs High School. She has written the play as her senior project for a Christmas production at the Star.

Auditions will be held on three consecutive days: Saturday, Sept. 17 at 10:00 a.m.; Sunday, Sept. 18 at 2:00 p.m.; and Monday, Sept. 18 at 6:00 p.m. The cast is large and all actors ages 4 to 104 are invited to join the fun. Most speaking parts are small, with only a handful of larger parts and many cameo appearances. Especially encouraged are actors who have a few dance moves of their own and those willing to learn a few more.

Production dates and times are 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16, and Saturday, Dec. 17; and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18.
