Beykirch Steps Down from West Plains School District Board of Education, Change of Residency

Veteran West Plains School District board member Courtney Beykirch announced her resignation, effective July 23, due to a change in residency. Beykirch has two years remaining on a three-year term, which expires in April 2023. Beykirch was appointed to the board in early 2014 to fill a vacancy created when previous board member Bo Pace moved outside the district. She was re-elected to the board in 2015, 2017, and 2020.
"It's been an honor to serve the district's students and our community for the past seven years," Beykirch said in thanking her colleagues on the board and within the district. "The board works in partnership with district leaders and educators to make West Plains Schools a destination district," she added. "I chose school board service to advocate for students, helping to broaden their opportunities while they're in our schools and after graduation. I'm pleased with our record of service for students, and I'm grateful to the educators who shaped the future for my own children too," said Mrs. Beykirch.
"This board will miss Courtney. She always made sure the parents' perspective was included in any discussion," said Jim Thompson, school board president. "Her family was committed to the district on so many levels. From their kids' involvement at school to Greg's and Courtney's service to the community, they have certainly left their mark here."
The district will release details on the vacant position soon.
