LHS graduation date moved to May 14

During a recent school board meeting the date for the 2027 graduation was moved to Friday, May 14, 2027 at 7:00 p.m. due to scheduling conflicts. More information on the Liberty graduation will come next year.

 

Other items on the agenda during the Thursday, Sept. 17 meeting of the Mountain View-Birch Tree R-III School District Board of Education.

 

- Approved minutes of August 20 tax rate hearing, regular board meeting and August 27 special meeting

- Approved payment of bills in the amount of $363,836.52

- Approved the following items extracted from the consent agenda: Payment of $803.41 to Brown's Lawn & Garden for supply with Mikael Orchard was absent for that vote; and Payment of $54.00 to Lois Wood for supply with Orchard absent for that vote and Gaylon Noble abstaining

- Superintendent Lanna Tharp presented the August 2026 financial report wit a balance in all funds for August 2026 at $10,721,623.36

- Pupil transportation routes as presented for 2026-2027 was approved

- The FFA National Convention trip was approved as presented

- Representatives from BSN Sports and Daktronics presented information on a method to make upgrades to the scoreboard equipment

- Policy updates were approved as presented with the exception of Policy GCL-The board removed the portion of Policy GCL regarding staff tuition reimbursement

- Approved the Special Education Local Compliance Plan as presented

Closed Session

- Approved to employ Stephanie Stoops, Title I Para; Mackenzie Brewer, SE Para; Tammy Hulvey, SE Para; Reese Marriott, LPN Supervisor; and add Stephanie Crites and Kelbie Smith to the certified substitute list pending completion of paperwork.

- The board accepted the retirement letter of Rhonda Baker, Custodian, effective Aug. 31, 2026; the resignations of Emillie McBride, Para effective Sept. 2, 2026; and Brittany Dennison, High School Basketball Coach effective Sept. 16, 2026.
