MSU-WP to offer introductory drafting program

Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) will offer a new Basic Introductory Computer Assisted Drafting (CAD) program beginning Feb. 16 at the Greater Ozarks Center for Advanced Technology (GOCAT), 395 Jackie Garrett Ave., in West Plains.

This 4-week, non-credit program provides students with industry-relevant drafting, design and CAD training using the most recent computer software. Students will learn about the fundamentals of drafting and two-dimensional computer drafting techniques, university officials said.

“This basic introduction to CAD is a good primer for the use of the software in drawing and design," said Sheila Barton, director of workforce development programs. "Whether you are just looking for some basic design skills or looking to jump start your career, this class can help you get started.”

This program will educate students on how to interpret the designs of engineer and technical drawings, including creating their own customizable schematics in AutoCAD. They will receive a credential of completion at the end of the program.

Hands-on training sessions will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8-11 a.m., beginning Feb. 16.
The fee for this program is $300 per person. The registration deadline is Feb. 12.
