MV-BT School Board meets

The Sept. 18 meeting of the Mountain View-Birch Tree school board began with the approval of the consent agenda, including minutes of the August 14 tax rate hearing and regular board meeting, payment of bills in the amount of $290,074.76, and monthly administrative/principal reports. An item was added to the agenda: a bid for surplus property.
The board heard from MSBA Delegate Shelly Mantel who gave a report/training and meetings update.
New Business:
- Exceptions to monthly bills including: $89.00 to Angel Garden for supply-motion made by Wells, seconded by John Thompson with Mantel abstaining; $565.40 to Brown's Lawn & Garden for supply-motion made by Roberts, seconded by Gaylon Noble (Mikael Orchard was not present); $495.00 to Lois Wood for supply-motion made by Thompson, seconded by Wells, Noble abstaining.
- August 2025 financial report, balance in all funds for August 2025 was $10,314,126.06.
- Approval of Pupil Transportation Routes-motion made by Wells, seconded by Smith.
- MSBA/MARE online refresher training discussion led by Lanna Tharp.
- Approval of FFA National tours trip 2025-motion made by Thompson, seconded by Noble.
- Facilities planning discussion, led by Ryan Chowning.
- Project management discussion led by Ryan Chowning.
- Care of Learn presentation, led by Kristy Reese.
- Acceptance of Roger Moore bid of $502.00 for the 1994 Chevrolet K3500 surplus property-motion made by Wells, seconded by Thompson.
Monthly Program Evaluations
- Agriculture program given by Krista Nicholson and Derrick Radford.
- Professional Development Program given by Tammy Heiney.
Administrators' Reports
- Principals report on each of their buildings.
- Student board representatives report given by Kierstyn Meyer.
The meeting closed at 7:20 p.m. and entered into closed session. During closed session the board approved the following: Savanna Moore, Rachel Bell, Reagann Grandstaff, Tabitha Lee and Eden Reed to the certified substitute list; Kenyon Walls as hourly SE Para; Justin Johnson and Shelly Russell to the non-certified bus driver substitute list; Jeremy Tharp as Assistant Softball Coach; Morgan Renegar, Cynthia Summers, Kacey Blunk, Justin French, Ashley Otwell, Brodie Collins, Terry A. Tharp to the volunteer list pending required orientation and paperwork.
