Prizes Awarded at CC Science Fair

The local Classical Conversations homeschooling community held their annual Science Fair last week. Nine 13-and-14-year-old students displayed their hard work from the past ten weeks, demonstrating the scientific process through experimentation. On fair day, students reported their results in a research paper and an oral presentation before a panel of seven judges, two from the homeschooling community and five from the community at large.

After the judging segment, students again gave their oral presentations, this time to the student body and families present. Tied for third place, with a prize of $50 each, were Anna Michel, for her study of grease fires, and Eston Crouse, for his project called, “The Ring of Fire.” Second place, with a prize of $75, was awarded to Grace Hines for her project titled, “Fruit Volcano.” First Place winner, with a $100 prize, was Landon Lewis, who studied water infiltration rates on rotationally-grazed versus continuously-grazed pastures.

Classical Conversations of Willow Springs is a homeschooling community that meets at First Baptist Church and serves families from the surrounding areas.
