Willow Springs Arts Council Reorganization Meeting

On Monday September 20, the Willow Springs Arts Council (WSAC) will hold a meeting to
elect new Board members. The meeting will be at 5:00 p.m. on the 2nd floor of the Ferguson
Building. If you are interested in being a Board member or a volunteer for the organization, please join them for this meeting.
The purpose of the WSAC is to promote community participation and interest in the fine arts.
They welcome local artists to participate to help guide the organization and provide artistic
support. The WSAC supports the Southern Ozarks Community Orchestra (SOCO) and, in years past, conducted arts workshops and classes, an annual Art Kids Camp, art fairs, local artist shows, art-related flea markets, and the Southern Ozarks Youth Orchestra.
The challenges around COVID-19 have had a major impact on the operations of the Arts Council. The Board made the decision in early 2020 to suspend operations until the Board felt that everyone, both Arts Council members and attendees, were comfortable in attending in-person, indoor activities. SOCO has begun regular practices again, now begins to reorganize and consider workshops and classes once again.
The WSAC has been a 501(c)3 organization since August 1988 and in 2014 the bylaws were
revised to establish a board consisting of seven (7) members. At the September 20 meeting, they will elect new Board members and discuss the future direction of the Arts Council. For more information, please contact Barbara Nyden at 417-855-0505 or bnyden@centurylink.net.
