Willow Springs School Board Meets

The Willow Springs School Board met virtually for its regular May meeting on May 11. The Board accepted resignations from eighth grade teacher, Jeff Fisher and from kindergarten teacher, Gloria Crewse. 
Offered contracts for the 2020/2021 academic year were: Crystal Sarton for kindergarten, Kylee Armstrong, eighth grade math, Sara Forrester, Process Coordinator, Rose Hart, middle school special education, and Dylan Carter, Student and Community Resource Coordinator.
For next year’s salaries, Superintendent of Schools, Bill Hall proposed a 0% increase to the base on both certified and non-certified salary schedules, while continuing to allow advancement on both certified and non-certified salary schedules for those who are able to advance. With a 7% increase in the district health insurance, the premium for the base plan will increase from $533.00 to $570.00 per covered employee, per month. He recommended adding $20.00 to the insurance cap, increasing it from $433.00 to $453.00. The employee contribution for the base plan would increase from $100.00 to $117.00. Mac Gum made a motion to approve the budget as presented, seconded by Farrell Graves, to approve this salary schedule. The motion carried 5 to 1, with Adrienne Mansfield voting nay. 
The School Board will have a special board meeting Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at 5:30 p.m. in the boardroom for the purpose of a district budget work session.
