‘From Beethoven to Elvis’ at the Star

The music will be as cool as the historic Star Theater on Saturday, June 17, at 7:00 p.m. when the Southern Ozarks Community Orchestra takes the stage to perform “From Beethoven to Elvis (and everything in between).

Tickets will be available at the door at $8 for adults and children under 12 admitted free.

This concert titled “From Beethoven to Elvis (and everything in between)” has something for everyone…jazz, Latin, folk, classical, Broadway, and rock n’ roll. Classic music lovers will enjoy Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 “Pastoral” and “Academic Festival Overture” by Brahms. A medley of songs from “Fiddler on the Roof” will please Broadway fans and jazz fans will be treated to “The Ozark Blues” by Constance Moon. “Cumberland Cross” is a Folk genre piece written by Carol Strommen.

There are several other numbers including “A Tribute to the King”, which is a medley of the music of Elvis Presley.

The Southern Ozarks Community Orchestra has been in existence for over fourteen years and features thirty area musicians of all ages. Members also include several local high school band directors. Orchestra director/conductor, Jodie Forbes has been with the group for many years and is a retired music teacher. Typically, the group performs four concerts per year.
