The city of Mountain View has announced several dates this spring for residents to clean-up. This gives city residents a chance to clean up around their property and have most items hauled away free of charge.
The Citywide Annual Spring Clean-up will be held April 21 to April 25. This clean-up is for city residential homes with current trash services. There will be a 2-yard limit (equivalent to a level pickup bed load) and the extra items will be collected on the customer's normal track pick-up day only.
Waste should be separated into 7 categories:
- Regular refuse: extra bags or boxed trash
- Large items: furniture, mattresses, wooden pallets, etc.
- Metal goods: washers, dryers, and all other metals and freon appliances
- Recyclable items should be placed at curb in blue recycle cabs, available at city hall and free to city residents
- Tires: maximum 4 care size
- Car batteries
- Used oil, must be labeled
To protect workers from injury, all broken glass must be boxed and labeled. Small items must be bagged or boxed. Items that will NOT be collected include any waste that is considered hazardous, such as asbestos, waste from major demolition or renovation jobs, items piled onto trailers or trucks, paint, pesticides, herbicides, or antifreeze.
