The members of the Mtn. View Garden Club have been preparing for the upcoming holidays for months. The winter's cold temperatures and winds take a toll on the beautiful red bows that adorn the 5-foot evergreen SWAGS that are placed throughout the community the first week of December each year. This year the club members took on the monumental task of making 100 new bows.
To those who have graciously volunteered time in years past know that creating the SWAGS is very time and labor intensive. On December 2, Mrs. Nicholson, from Liberty High School, and her students, will assist in covering the entire community center hall floor with tarps and setting up the many tables where the work will take place. At the same time, members will be gathering truck-loads of pine, cedar and holly that will be used in the construction of the SWAGS.
On Monday, Dec. 3 and Tuesday, Dec. 4, the workshop gets into full swing. As always, the club appreciates the help of anyone who can spare an hour or so of time to assist in making these lovely SWAGS that help add holiday spirit to the community. Please bring gloves, pruners and pliers. If you have greenery to spare, this would also be appreciated. The club will be working from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on both days. As always, lunch is provided.
