West Plains launches contest to redesign official city seal

The City of West Plains announced last week the launch of a community initiative: a contest to redesign the city's official seal. The current seal—which reads only "seal"—leaves plenty of room for creativity. The winning design will become the official seal used on all city documents and materials, symbolizing West Plains' history, culture, and vision for the future.

Residents of all ages and artistic abilities are invited to submit their designs. The contest is open to individuals or groups, with the following guidelines:

- Designs must be circular and should represent the spirit and identity of West Plains, incorporating elements that reflect its natural beauty, history, and/or community values.
- All designs must be submitted digitally. Hand-drawn designs should be scanned and emailed. Digital designs should be sent as high-resolution files (JPG, PNG, or PDF).

Send all entries to seal@westplains.gov by Friday, Feb. 14.

A panel of judges will review all entries and select five finalists based on creativity, adherence to the theme, and representation of West Plains. The community will then vote on the top designs to choose the winner February 18 through February 28. There is no monetary reward, but the winner will receive public recognition at a city council meeting; a feature in a press release; and on the city's social media platforms. The winner will also have the honor of having their design represent the City of West Plains on official documents.

The finalist will be announced on Tuesday, Feb. 18 and the winner will be announced on Tuesday, March 4. For more information about the contest, please visit  westplains.gov or contact Cody Sanders at 417-256-7176 ext. 2208 or cody.sanders@westplains.gov.
