Unless challengers file before the end of the month, officeholders in Howell County will have familiar faces in the next term – except one. Attorney Larry Burton has filed for the Division 3 Associate Judge seat currently held by the Honorable R. David Ray. Burton has filed to run as a Republican and is currently unchallenged.
Republican incumbents have all filed for office in the opening week of filing, according to Howell County Clerk Kelly Waggoner.
These are: Presiding Commissioner-Ralph Riggs, County Clerk-Kelly Waggoner, Circuit Clerk-Cynthia Lee, Treasurer-Nancy Franz, Recorder-Jeff Brasier, Prosecuting Attorney-Michael P. Hutchings, Collector-Janet Crow, and Associate Circuit Judge Division 2-Melissa Stewart.
If any Democrat or Independent candidates file, these races will be decided at the general election in November. If any Republicans file, they will square off with the incumbents in the August primary.
Committeeperson positions will be decided in August. In the first week of filing, only Republicans have filed. These are: Sisson Township-Janet Harrison, South Fork Township-Roy L. Chapin, Howell Township-Judy VonAllmen, and South Fork Township-Marilyn Roberts.
