Fourth of July Parade and Star Theater Presentation

Dear Editor,

I’d like to commend all who helped to make the 4th of July, America’s Birthday, a special occasion! But specifically, I’d like to recognize the efforts of Jane Bailey for making it special for all.

The parade was wonderful, the attendance was robust, the number of floats and the number of folks lined up over the parade route may be viewed as just how many residents care about our nation’s birthday.
My wife and I moved to Willow Springs fourteen years ago, and since that time Jane has been deeply involved in many civic minded projects. Jane is one of Willow Spring’s staunchest supporters. She loves our community, and her continued involvement shows her dedication to it. I’m not certain that everyone understands her level of commitment. Anyone who has ever tried to manage a large project with many people involved knows that it can be nerve wracking and stressful. This year’s celebration of our Independence was a delight to folks like me who have wondered what happened to the America we grew up in. Jane’s dedication to this celebration is a great example of the American Spirit of my youth. I don’t know how she found the medallions for the Veterans and got them here in time, but she did. This was a special moment for me, as I’m sure it was to the other vets in attendance. It was a surprise, and it was welcome.

So if you see Jane while you are out and about, be sure you thank her for the hard work and dedication she showed in putting together many pieces of this celebration. She deserves to know that her hard work is appreciated. Thank you Jane, you are a great American!
