The mystery of what is being built across from the Love’s truck stop in Willow Springs is solved. A concrete company focused on being environmentally friendly based in northern California, ABC Ready Mix, will be opening a new location on the 13.66 acres across from Love’s within the next few months. During the city council meeting on June 18, Andy Gilmore, the company’s corporate controller, provided an introduction and update on the company’s progress.
ABC Ready Mix has a fleet of 41 trucks and 50 employees. They will hire ten or eleven people initially, under general manager Paul Adelsberger. The jobs offer competitive pay, including healthcare, dental, vision, and retirement benefits. The company’s in-house recruiter in California has already received inquiries about work, Gilmore said.
The company is planning on using their concrete to build the facility, so they are waiting until the Bill of Sale is ready to be approved at next month’s city council meeting. The company has a concrete batch plant in nearby storage waiting for this approval. Eight trucks are also planned to come in the following weeks.
ABC Ready Mix has spent the last nine months working out all the details for the new facility. The process was “cussed and discussed,” and all the minor details with the city are resolved. There will be a boost in sales tax revenue for Willow Springs once the location is operational. Potential customers have already opened conversations with the company, according to Gilmore.
Gilmore previously lived in Willow Springs and was looking for an opportunity to return. He has been working remotely but will be back permanently soon.
