Annual Tax Collection Season begins

Howell County Collector Dennis Von Allmen announced Nov. 7 the beginning of the the annual tax collection season. Howell County is mailing out 38,600 tax bills this week. Von Allmen said for the tax year of 2022, the collector's office is charged with collecting 25.2 million dollars for the various political subdivisions in Howell County. The majority (18.4 million dollars) will be distributed to the ten local school districts serving the county, he added.
Most levies set by the taxing entities remained the same or with minor changes this year, Von Allmen reports.
Several methods of payment are available to taxpayers:
- Taxpayers may pay in person at the Collector's Office located in the Howell County Office Building, downtown West Plains.
- Also, taxpayers are reminded of the various other ways available to pay taxes, which include: online, telephone or drop box located outside of the front door of the Howell County Office Building. A credit or debit card is necessary for online and telephone transactions. For online payments, taxpayers should go to www.howellcountycollector.com and follow the prompts. For telephone payments, taxpayers should follow the instructions on their tax statement.
- Taxpayers will again be able to pay their taxes at the West Plains Bank & Trust branches located in Willow Springs and Mountain View (through Dec. 31, 2022).
