The Willow Springs Police Department responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of East Main St. and Industrial Dr., near the south junction of U.S. Highway 60/63, on August 28. According to the crash report, a tractor trailer driven by Cassandra Jestice of Viola, Ar. was attempting to drive straight through from Industrial Dr. onto the private drive which will lead to the future site of McIntosh Trucking when she realized too late her lane was blocked by a trailer parked in the lane.
Jestice swerved to the left to avoid the obstacle, impacting the right front fender of a Dodge truck driven by Matthew Roberts of West Plains. Neither driver was injured.
Police Chief Bryan Hogan told Howell County News he is concerned with the pattern of traffic crashes and near-misses at this busy intersection.
“I think there’s gonna be more [accidents] to come,” he said.
Chief Hogan said the department will continue to aggressively enforce safety hazards at the South Junction because officers, “...see so many things that could go wrong.”
