The Mountain View Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 call that came from West Plains Bank & Trust Company in the early morning hours of Thursday, Sept. 28. Mountain View Police Chief Jamie Perkins stated the investigation has been turned over to the FBI since it is considered a bank robbery and that the bank is federally insured.
According to police scanner communications, around 2:45 a.m. the West Plains Bank & Trust Company automated system called 9-1-1 regarding the bank’s ATM being tampered with. Officers arrived on scene shortly after the dispatch and found a blue Ford F-250 still running hooked to the bank’s ATM which was ripped from its blocks. The vehicle was later found to be stolen from the Summersville area.
Scanner communications indicate that four suspects dressed in black with black gloves and black masks ran from the area. At press time, it was not known if the suspects were able to get away with any money.
