Bulk Water Permanently Shut Down at PWSD 3

The Public Water Supply District #3 located just outside Willow Springs city limits announced that it will permanently stop offering bulk water sales. In a statement, they explained, “Due to the high cost of replacing the existing equipment, and a question concerning the use of public funds for use outside the mission statement of the district, bulk water sales have been permanently halted.”

The location formerly offered bulk water sales to the public, but an equipment failure prompted the discontinuation of the service in early July 2020. At the time, Director John Sullivan told Howell County News, “We’re going to do it, but we have no idea when,” and “This is not a matter of finances...This is a public service that needs to be done.”

The announcement of an upcoming board meeting offered no information on what has changed since the summer.

The next board meeting of the water district is Thursday, November 12. The public is welcome.

Bulk water is available in Mountain View near the fire station.
