City Council Signs Contract with Dugger Trash Service, LLC

At the regular City Council meeting on September 17, the Board of Alderman in Willow Springs unanimously passed an ordinance allowing Mayor Brooke Fair to execute a contract between the City and a new trash provider, Dugger Trash Service, LLC. After years with WCA, City trash services will switch to DTS on January 1, 2021.
Rural residents who currently receive trash service from WCA may or may not lose their service at that time, but City Administrator Beverly Hicks reported to the Council that services from DTS will likely be available instead.
DTS has been cooperating with WCA to affect a seamless transition in January, Hicks said.
The rates in the new contract are lower than the City has been paying through WCA, but there is no official decision how or if consumer prices will change at the new year.
“There absolutely will be no increase [to utility customers],” Hicks assured the room during the press questions section of the agenda.
