DAR invites public to Dr. Rick Mansfield's program, "Four Fourths and a Fifth"

The Ozark Spring Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (OSCNSDAR) invites the public to join them for an entertaining afternoon with local Author, Dr. Rick Mansfield as he presents his program “Four Fourths and a Fifth,” on Saturday, April 2 at 2:00 p.m., at the West Plains Public Library Community Room, 704 W. Broadway, West Plains. This presentation is fun for all audiences, and it is free.
In his presentation, Rick Mansfield portrays numerous characters beginning with the Secretary of the Second Continental Congress on that historic Fourth of July in 1776 when our nation was officially born. Listen and watch as you are bedside at a dying Founding Father half-a-century later. Thrill at a battle that may well decide the outcome of a horrific war then dividing our nation. Be part of the American Expeditionary Force as our country’s blood and resources preserve freedom in Europe and the world at the dawning of the 20th century.
Changing waistcoats and hats, utilizing different props and uniforms; Rick plays the various roles without ever leaving the stage. This is an informative and uplifting tribute to our nation; using five different July Fourths to weave a theme of historic service to our nation, our world, and our God. At the end of the presentation, Rick takes questions as any of the previously presented characters; and then as himself.
Dr. Eric "Rick" Mansfield is a retired educator who resides with his wife Judy on a small organic farm outside Ellington, MO in Reynolds County. They are joined by their three beagles, two cats and a host of native "critters."  The two run the non-profit Ozark Heritage Project that is dedicated to preserving and restoring the culture and the physical environment. OHP and Rick host and co-host numerous stream cleanings annually and Rick does first-person in-costume historical presentations. In 2019, OHP removed more than 40 tons of debris from streams and flood plains while Rick did more than three-dozen different characters in his presentations.
Rick serves as host and emcee to numerous fund-raisers each year as well as officiates at numerous funerals and weddings as a Christian minister. Rick is available for family-friendly presentations and book readings and may be reached at 573-663-2269 or emansfield2004@yahoo.com, and 701 CR 602, Ellington, Missouri 63638.
Dr. Mansfield’s selected books will be available for purchase following the program and the monthly DAR meeting will follow shortly after the presentation. Meeting Hostesses are Sue Evans and Holly O’Brien.
