Fatal High Water Crash

Howell County and the surrounding area experienced between 6 and 9 inches of rain over the weekend, and the torrential downpours caused flooding and over roads and bridges. One Willow Springs man did not survive a crash caused by high water on Highway Y three miles north of Mountain View. 

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, John Heck, 71, drove into high water at 10:30 p.m. on Friday night. His pickup truck was washed into a nearby creek. Heck was pronounced dead at the scene by Howell County Coroner Tim Cherry.
